  • Acquaintance Rape on College and University Campuses

    • This article focuses on the relationships between abusers and victims and a clear look into patterns of behavior.

      • I struggle with this article because of the pressure it places on women to protect themselves and the lack of attention on the problem with the assaulters themselves

  • Sexual Pain and Pleasure

    • This article focuses on the way women’s sexual experiences have been historically diminished in order to increase the pleasure for male counterparts

      • It addresses really interesting information about the way women feel like they cannot express pain during sex and often do not have the agency to insist on their own pleasure.

Plays on the Subject

  • Oleanna by David Mammet

    • This play deals with an allegation of sexual harassment in a college environment and has great insight into the power dynamics between female students and male professors.

    • It is a good play to think about through the lens of public response because the ambiguity of the play stirs great conversations.

  • Really Really by Paul Downs Colaizzo

    • Produced in 2013 off Broadway, this play deals with incredibly similar conversations with Student Body.

    • Like Oleanna, we struggle to trust the person making the claim of abuse.

    • This play was met with heavy criticism

  • Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose

    • This play involves a group of jurors trying to determine if a son has killed his father. If they proclaim him guilty, there is a mandatory death sentence. They all begin with supposition that he is guilty and end up being persuaded to pronounce him not guilty.

    • The parallels between this play and Student Body can be really valuable to our understanding of the relationships and pressure of the play.
